Brad’s Approach
education, registrations, & Memberships
Brad has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with a collaborative specialization in Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto. He has also completed the Intensive Sex Therapy Training Program at the University of Guelph and received an Addictions Careworker diploma from McMaster University.
He has been a Canadian Certified Counsellor since 2013 and a Registered Psychotherapist since 2015, when psychotherapy regulation went into effect in Ontario and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario first came into existence.
He is a Certified Sex Therapist with the Association of Sex Therapy in Ontario (formerly known as BESTCO), where he is also the current Executive Chair of Membership and Certification. For several years, Brad has been a full professional member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health and has completed all educational requirements to be designated as a WPATH SOC-8 Certified provider (certified status pending).
Like all Registered Psychotherapists, Brad is required to complete regular continuing education.
It all begins with the stories we tell: stories about ourselves, our relationships, or our desires. These stories help us understand how we make meaning of our experiences and how we navigate through our lives.
Brad’s approach to therapy is grounded in the idea that nothing happens in isolation, that past experiences shape our understandings of our present, and that what feels like reality to one person may not be reality to another.
Talking about sex, relationships, and mental health concerns can be vulnerable, challenging work that can lead to incredible transformations for individuals & relationships. Brad works with you to create a safe, comfortable environment where you can do the hard work while still having the space to laugh, celebrate the successes, and find moments of joy in the process.
highlighted experience
Brad’s career as a psychotherapist began in the non-profit sector. In particular, Brad has had the privilege of working with several organizations dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQ+ psychosexual health and wellbeing. Some notable highlights include his time at the David Kelley 2SLGBTQ+ Services program at Family Service Toronto, where he facilitated a court-mandated intimate partner or domestic violence group therapy program for gay, bisexual, queer, and trans-identified men, as well as the years Brad spent at the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT). At ACT, Brad offered psychotherapy and sex therapy services directly in several of Toronto’s gay bathhouses and also partnered with primary care offices in and around Toronto’s Gay Village to support GBQT men’s psychosexual and relational health and wellbeing.
Since then, Brad has primarily in private practice, with brief stints in primary care offices and post-secondary institutions. Regardless of the setting, Brad’s work has focused on sex, relationships, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. He is currently working out of Healing Path Therapy, where he sees individuals, couples, and relationships of all sorts for psychotherapy, relationship counselling, and sex therapy services.
